The quietest person in the room taught me the most important lesson of my career.
I was conducting a PoSH awareness session for a manufacturing company.
About 40 people. Mostly men. One woman, sitting in the last row, barely making eye contact.
I made sure she knew — through everything I said — that this room was safe. That this conversation was real. That her experience mattered.
At the end of the session, she waited until everyone left.
She told me about two years of comments, gestures, and exclusion — from a team lead she had to report to every day.
She hadn’t told anyone. Not because she didn’t know her rights.
Because she didn’t believe anyone would do anything.
I helped her understand her options. I connected her with the right people.
But what stayed with me was this:
We can have the best policies in the world. If employees don’t believe in them — those policies are just paper.
Trust in the PoSH process isn’t built through documents. It’s built through consistent, visible action — by employers, by ICs, by leaders.
That’s the work we are here to do.
📲 Build that trust in your organisation.
